Daliah Belkine is a veteran art historian and museum collections management professional. She began her training at the École du Louvre in Paris followed by a bachelor’s degree in Archaeology and French language and literature from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem and a master’s degree from the Department of Art History, Tel Aviv University. Her final thesis was titled Menachem Shemi – Sources and Influences on his Oeuvre. Over the years, Belkine held internships at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and others.

Belkine has worked at most of Israel's leading museums, including the Israel Museum, Jerusalem; the Tel Aviv Museum of Art; the Museum of Art, Ein Harod; the Eretz Israel Museum, Tel Aviv; and the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art.

Specializing in collections management with emphasis on documentation and registration, she taught museology (museum studies) for many years at the University of Haifa and at various specialized courses.

Belkine's diverse experience in museum curatorship includes membership in the curating team of “La sculpture au Siècle de Rubens” exhibition (Museum of Fine Arts, Brussels, 1977). She curated the exhibitions of Claude Vialla (Joe Alon Museum, Lahav, 1992), Jasser Abu-Rabiah (Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, 1994) and Michel Kikoïne (Tel Aviv University Art Gallery, 2006). The highlight of her curatorial work to date was the retrospective exhibition of Menachem Shemi at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art (2009) followed by exhibitions at the Haifa Museum of Art and at the Museum of Art, Ein Harod (2010), which were accompanied by her comprehensive book, Menachem Shemi - Man and Artist.

For many years she has been a member of ICOM (UNESCO’s International Council of Museums) and a member of its subcommittee for museum documentation, CIDOC. Recently she joined the Catalogue Raisonné Scholars Association.

Belkine's focus on the person and oeuvre of Menachem Shemi (1897-1951) dates back to her university years. It relies on her professional expertise regarding his entire body of work as much as on her intimate acquaintance with people who were close to Shemi and his environment, many of whom are no longer alive. For years, Belkine has been acknowledged as the authority on Shemi's art and her opinions are accepted by professionals, collectors and art connoisseurs. Her preparation of the catalogue raisonné of Menachem Shemi's oeuvre is a major contribution to the preservation of this important artist's heritage.
